Anti-plagiarism policy
Scientia et PRAXIS is firmly committed to academic integrity and editorial ethics. In accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), all forms of plagiarism are considered a serious breach of academic conduct.
1. Definition and Scope
According to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, 2019), plagiarism is defined as:
“The use of others’ ideas, words, data, or images without appropriate attribution, and presenting them as if they are one’s own original work.”
This definition encompasses the following practices:
-
Verbatim copying without proper citation.
-
Paraphrasing without source attribution.
-
Self-plagiarism (recycling previously published material without disclosure).
-
Simultaneous submission of the same work to multiple journals.
-
Use of AI-generated content without clear disclosure or editorial consent.
2. Detection Mechanisms
All submitted manuscripts undergo a mandatory similarity analysis using iThenticate, a professional software that detects textual overlaps with other academic publications and online sources.
Note: iThenticate does not automatically determine the existence of plagiarism. Its function is to detect textual similarities, which are carefully interpreted by the editorial team, considering the context, the extent of the match, and the appropriateness of citations.
3. Editorial Action and Sanctions
Before publication, if the similarity analysis conducted with iThenticate shows a result exceeding 10% without appropriate justification (e.g., proper citations, references, or technical language), or if clear signs of plagiarism or self-plagiarism are identified, the manuscript will be rejected. The authors will receive a detailed editorial report, and if applicable, may submit a revised version in future calls.
After publication, if plagiarism is confirmed, the article will be formally retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines. A retraction notice will be published on the journal’s platform, and the authors’ affiliated institutions, as well as relevant indexing systems, will be duly notified.
4. Declaration of Originality and Assignment of Rights
As part of the editorial process, authors must sign a Declaration of Originality and Assignment of Economic Rights, in which they affirm that:
-
The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under review by another journal.
-
All sources used are properly cited.
-
The article will be published under the Creative Commons Atribución-No Comercial 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC 4.0).
-
Non-exclusive economic rights are assigned to the journal.
Authors will sign and attach a letter declaring the originality of their work and the assignment of non-exclusive economic rights to the journal, in accordance with the following format .
