Abstract

The Academia Mexicana de Investigación y Docencia en Innovación (AMIDI), through the Editorial Board of the journal Scientia et PRAXIS, in Volume 04, Issue 08, corresponding to the July-December 2024 period as a regular edition, presents original and unpublished scientific works on how multidisciplinary activity serves as a driver of innovation to achieve sustainable development with social impact. This edition highlights contributions to both the field of knowledge (Scientia) and its application (Praxis). Accordingly, the following articles are presented in this issue:

1. Economic Performance of Eco-Innovation Practices. This article explores how green business strategies and eco-innovation practices in manufacturing MSMEs positively impact economic performance and environmental sustainability. It contributes to sustainable development by demonstrating the economic feasibility of integrating strategic environmental objectives.

2. The Mediation of Drivers and Practices to Overcome Barriers to the Circular Economy. This study analyzes how drivers and practices enable manufacturing SMEs to develop capabilities in the circular economy, overcoming economic and technological barriers. Its multidisciplinary approach fosters an effective transition to circular models, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

3. Integration of the ARIMA Model with Sustainable Practices to Forecast Corn Prices in Mexico. This work combines econometric modeling and sustainability to forecast corn prices, aiding in the design of more informed and resilient agricultural policies. It contributes to food security (SDG 2) and poverty reduction (SDG 1).

4. Promoting Sustainable Development through Social Innovation. This paper examines how cultural values influence entrepreneurial intentions among university students, highlighting the importance of culture in fostering social and educational innovation, aligned with SDGs 4, 8, and 9.

5. Factors Influencing Regional Innovation in Mexico for Sustainable Growth This analysis identifies factors driving regional innovation in Mexico from 1993 to 2020, emphasizing the role of education and technology in inclusive and sustainable growth, contributing to SDGs 8 and 9.

6. Innovation Strategies for Sustainable Development in Public Universities. This study examines how workplace engagement and civic behaviors in public universities promote administrative and educational innovation, contributing to the formation of effective and inclusive institutions (SDGs 4 and 16).

7. Sustainable Innovation in Polyolefin Elastomers. This work develops a predictive model optimizing the design of polyolefin foams, reducing waste and promoting industrial sustainability. It supports SDGs 9, 12, and 13 by integrating innovation and sustainability.

These articles reflect a significant contribution to sustainable development through innovative and multidisciplinary perspectives.

The authors, AMIDI authorities, and the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Scientia et PRAXIS involved in this work aspire for readers to find accessible and practical information suited to their purposes. Additionally, they encourage readers to become contributors to future editions like this one, where the challenges facing our country and their potential solutions are analyzed and presented.

Juan Mejía-Trejo, Director of Academia Mexicana de Investigación y Docencia en Innovación (AMIDI)

He was born in 1964 in CDMX, México.
As professional experience:
1986-1987. Quality Department Control in KOKAI Electrónica S.A.
1987-2008. Former Internal Plant Exploitation Manager at Teléfonos de México S.A.B. Western Division.
As academic experience :
1987. He earned his degree in Communications and Electronics Engineering from the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, Instituto Politécnico Nacional (ESIME at the IPN)
2004. He earned his master’s in Telecommunications Business Administration from INTTELMEX and France Telecom.
2010. He earned his doctorate in Administrative Sciences from the Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración (ESCA at the IPN)
2011. He is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI) Level I of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT), México.
2010 to the present, he is Titular Research Professor B at the Department of Marketing and International Business at the Universidad de Guadalajara, México.
2015-2022. He earned the Coordination of the Doctorate in Management Sciences at the Universidad de Guadalajara.
2018-2020. He earned his master’s in Valuing Business in the Centro de Valores S.C. México.
2019. He earned Level II of the SNI/CONACYT.

Carlos Gabriel Borbón-Morales, Editor-in-Chief Scientia et PRAXIS Journal from AMIDI

Originally from Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico. He has a degree in Economics, with a specialty in political economy, from the University of Sonora, Mexico. Master in Social Sciences, Specialty in Regional Development, from El Colegio de Sonora, Mexico. Doctor in Economic Sciences, from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), UABC Campus in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

He is currently a Full-Time Research Professor, attached to the Regional Development area of ​​the Food and Development Research Center (CIAD, A.C.) in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
